Special Offering Descriptions
Minneapolis Interfaith Relief Fund (MIRF): senior clergy of the downtown interfaith congregations established this fund in response to requests for financial support in the communities affected by unrest in the city following the police killing of George Floyd.
Westminster Emergency Assistance Fund: this fund provides assistance for emergency needs, such as the Covid-19 pandemic, hunger, housing, or other benevolence.
Hunger Offering: provides direct financial support to food shelves, meal programs, and other local organizations, such as: Groveland Food Shelf, Liberty Church 21st Century Academy Summer Meal Program, Al-Maa’uun Food Program, and Division of Indian Work.
One Great Hour of Sharing: this offering supports the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, the Presbyterian Hunger Program, and Self-Development of People. All three work in different ways to provide help from initial disaster response to ongoing community development.
Peace and Global Witness: 25% of this offering connects with the global witness of Christ’s peace; 25% supports ministries of peace and reconciliation; and the remaining 50% is used by the Presbyterian Mission Agency to advocate for peace and justice in cultures of violence.
Christmas Joy: in honor of God’s gift of Jesus, this offering provides assistance to current and retired church workers in their time of need and develops future leaders at Presbyterian-related schools, and colleges equipping communities of color.
