Caregiver Support Ministry
There comes a time in our lives when many of us find ourselves providing care to a family member or friend during their time of physical, cognitive, or emotional suffering. While such caregiving can be a privilege for which we’re grateful, it can also leave us with feelings of isolation, fatigue, and conflicting emotions. Westminster’s Caregiver Support Ministry is open to both Westminster and community members who are providing care to loved ones or friends. The group meets monthly on the 4th Saturday of the month at 10AM. During COVID-19 there are virtual connections with participants. The group is not a therapy group. Rather, it offers an opportunity to connect with other current or previous caregivers in our community to renew energy and strength by reducing feelings of isolation. Members benefit from sharing their experiences and finding out that, even if their caregiving journey looks very different from others, there are similarities in the emotions and experiences of all caregivers. Obtaining mutual support from those who understand firsthand what it means to be a caregiver can be a wonderful gift of self-care during a stressful time. Member to Member Care Ministry
The Member-to-Member Care Ministry team (M2M) provides confidential, trained, one-to-one caring and visitation with Westminster members who are homebound. M2M training is offered twice a year, after which M2M team members are matched with persons to visit regularly. During COVID-19, connections are maintained through phone calls and video communications. The Westminster member with whom a ministry team member is matched may be living in their own home, in the home of a family member, an assisted living facility, or a nursing home. M2M provides the opportunity for our homebound community to continue to feel connected with our church. For more information contact at Pat Stankovitch at ps10632@comcast.net
