“With gratitude for where I have been and hope for where God will lead me, I give thanks for the gifts of sustenance along the way: for relationships that nurture and challenge me; for the hospitality of strangers; for diverse songs of joy and lament; and for the gift of learning, which refreshes my spirit.”
With a background in music, including a Bachelor of Music in Church Music and Organ Performance from St. Olaf College, the Rev. Alexandra Jacob first felt a call toward music ministry early in her life. However, an opportunity to lead liturgy in college put her on a different path. After experiencing preaching, leading worship, and studying theology, Alexandra began to feel a calling toward congregational ministry.
Alexandra completed her Master of Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary in Georgia and then began a pastoral resident position that allowed her to experience many different areas of ministry. As she began working with young people, she felt the Holy Spirit pulling her again, this time toward faith formation and working with families, youth, and children. “Finding my way into relationships with young people as a pastor has been very meaningful to me,” she said.
As Westminster’s Associate Pastor for Families, Youth, and Children, Alexandra oversees those engaged in Westminster’s Families,Youth, and Children (FYC) ministries. Alexandra supervises, develops, and collaborates with teams of staff members and lay leaders working in FYC ministries of the church. She assists with teaching youth and church school classes, and serves as pastoral liaison to the Christian Vocations Team.
