Listening to Contemporary Native American Artists
Listening to the voices of Native American artists expressed in their art will be the focus of a self-guided tour at Mia as well as this virtual component. At the heart of both encounters will be an exploration of how the selected art of Native Americans addresses social injustices and expresses Native beliefs that may be contrary to the dominant culture. These Covid-safe activities are designed in a partnership between Westminster and the Minneapolis Institute of Art [Mia]
Led by Mia docents Bruce Robbins and Elizabeth Winga, this online discussion will be an opportunity to contemplate with others the embedded messages of these Native artists. Taking the self-guided tour at Mia before or after the virtual tour is recommended, but not necessary for signing up. All of the images will be viewed during this virtual tour.
