On Tuesday, May 10, the Town Hall Forum welcomes E.J. Dionne and Miles Rapoport who will discuss “100% Democracy: Making the Case for Universal Civic Voting.” Dionne is a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and a syndicated columnist for the Washington Post. Rapoport is a senior fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School. He formerly served as Connecticut’s secretary of the state.
Conflicts between voter suppression and voter access are a regular feature in American politics. In their new book, Dionne and Rapoport suggest a way of settling the debate: give every citizen the right to vote and require them to do so. The authors will explain why they think mandatory voting would improve American politics.
