Andrea Leap is back by popular demand! On October 11, she’ll discuss our bodies’ biochemical responses when we hear, play, or sing music, from strengthening our memories to calming our heart rate. We’ll learn about the surprising hormonal changes that occur, what musical elements trigger them, and how composers and performers have intuitively understood our physical responses to music for centuries.

Andrea teaches at MacPhail Center for Music and is an adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas. Her extensive experience includes performances with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Schubert Club, Minnesota Bach Society, Michigan Opera, Toledo Opera, Skylark Opera, Duluth Festival Opera, and Minnesota Historical Society.
