Join us on Monday, January 14, at 7:30 pm in Westminster Hall for reflections on the individual and collective impact of the Minnesota Orchestra’s tour to South Africa and collaboration with South Africa. It’s an evening of South African music, stories, videos, photos, and artwork. Hear from singers and Chorale artistic director Kathy Saltzman Romey on the sights of Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Soweto, and the powerful experience of singing side-by-side with South African colleagues. Meet Brendon Adams, conductor of the South African vocal-instrumental group 29:11, who will discuss the impact this project had on the young people of his ensemble and what’s to come in the fall of 2019. And welcome Minnesota Orchestra General Manager Beth Kellar-Long along with members of the Minnesota Orchestra, who will provide personal insights into the planning and partnerships forged with South African communities, local musicians, and youth.
