Amanda has a degree in music and art from Luther College, earned her Master’s in choral conducting at Yale, and has a Doctorate in Musical Arts from the University of Minnesota. She joined the Westminster staff in July 2018 and recently was named Minister of Music and Arts. Asked about instruments she plays, she said, “My first and best is piano, followed by voice. I have manageable skills on violin and guitar, and I play very basic mandolin.”
Passionate about music as a tool for social change, Amanda founded a homeless women’s choir and, most recently, a choir at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Shakopee. She specializes in working with women to empower them to find their voice. Her own self-discovery has come through visual art, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
